Privacy
Privacy
Short version: no account, no email, no tracking cookies, and no names needed. Nothing you type is passed to a funeral home or anyone else. Two guide pages show one small ad, described under Advertising.
What is kept
The Price List Reader and the Paper Check work from what is in the page address. They are not saved in our database. Like every web server, ours writes the addresses it serves (which include the prices you typed) and your IP address to its access log, which the hosting server keeps for a limited time.
A Family Folder keeps what you saved in it (labels, ticked items and prices), its name, and the dates it was made, changed and last opened. Its private key is never stored: only a one-way hash of it. Your browser keeps the key in a cookie that only this site can read.
Daily limits keep a one-way hash of your IP address with a count for the day, deleted after 3 days.
What is never collected
No names (yours or the person who died), no emails, phone numbers, card numbers or locations. No analytics services and no third-party fonts. Every file comes from this site, except the one banner ad on the two guide pages (Your rights, and Sources and method): how its ad server uses your IP address (including an approximate-city lookup that is not stored), and its count of one page view per page as a daily total, are described under Advertising.
Deleting
Delete a folder from the folder itself (type delete to confirm). Folders not opened for 400 days are deleted automatically. Nightly database backups are deleted after 14 days.
Payments (later)
The optional Planning Pass is free during the preview. When paying opens, PayPal handles the payment; this site will keep only the payment reference, which Pass was bought (1 month or 1 year), the amount and the dates it runs, linked to the folder.
Advertising
Since October 17, 2026 two guide pages, Your rights and Sources and method, show one small banner ad from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind this site. For now the ads are for WeldonPC’s own services; no funeral home, cemetery, insurer or lender advertises here. The home page, the Price List Reader, the Paper Check, your Family Folder, Pricing, this page, the terms and error pages show no banner and load nothing from adengine.us.
To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your IP address, your browser type and the address of this site with those requests (the site’s address only, not the page’s).
- No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
- How your IP address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your IP address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC’s own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
- What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (IP address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
- Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser’s site, which has its own privacy policy.
- Nothing about you is sold or shared.
